PAPERS will be a “total performance” in which the public is both audience and participant / protestor. Through a visceral encounter with the true stories of asylum seekers and their sometimes unimaginable struggles to obtain identification, we will all look at our own identities, positionalities, and relationships to “the other.” The faces of refugees, projected onto the buildings of our city, will be interspersed with live images of ourselves, watching, reminders of our responsibility to the society we wish to inhabit. Illuminated by this light in the darkness, a dance and live music will emerge, inviting us into a theatre and politics of hope, celebration, and unity.
